NEW (LATE NIGHT) BLOG POST: It's been a day... a rough day. So naturally... I ate too many squares of peppermint dark chocolate and wrote about my feelings. Link in bio 💛
Yesterday I said goodbye to a beautiful friend. She loved to laugh, to chat, to shop, to care, to drink coffee, to walk, to read and to build things out of Lego. She was 31. Her daughter is 18 months old. Cancer. I hate it with every bone of my body. I hate it with every cell and every thought. I hate that it can so easily take everything away from us. It takes our friends, our family, our capabilities, our careers, our dreams and our aspirations. It's so unfair. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. She was 31. Her daughter is 18 months old. I hate it, but I can't help but appreciate the lesson it has taught me: That no one's tomorrow is certain. That life is too short. There is no perfect time to die. When your time comes, you probably will wish you had more time and there might be some stuff you'll regret. But you will never regret holding your loved ones that little while longer. You'll never regret pursuing a life long dream. You'll never regret exploring and discovering. You'll never regret caring or being kind to someone without expecting something in return. You'll never regret being a part of something bigger than you. So book the trip. Eat the cake. Buy the damn t-shirt. Kiss your loved ones every chance you get. Make someone's day, even if they don't deserve it. Keep learning, keep teaching, keep chasing. That's what she did. She was 31. Her daughter is 18 months old. And I miss her already.

What do you reckon this is? This weekend, my parents and I swapped households. They moved downstairs into the self-contained flat we've called home for the past almost three-ish years, and my little family of four moved upstairs. This meant a big shuffle around and, for my parents, a big opportunity to go through their belongings and decide on the stuff that counts. But what do we hang on to? And why? And what does it even count for in the long run? I don't have all the answers for that, however I do know that in the clear-out, my mum found this incredible item that looks like its come straight out of a boho etsy shop. Saaaaaah trendy. It's made either by my great aunt or my great grandmother, and has the single purpose of storing your pjs on your bed during the day. I love it and use it every day after I make the bed! Speaking of sorting out, I wrote a blog post earlier in the year about the Marie-Kondo-mania sweeping the country, and about what it really means to clear out our closets. Any tips on how to introduce a bottle to one small baby that loved it up until two weeks ago? He took 30mls tonight... which is an improvement. But Olly have one night out in September (just one night!) and we'd like to attend it without our littlest one if possible... ♡♡♡

Six weeks ago when I was having a total meltdown, rocking a baby who wouldn't settle while my toddler wrecked the living room, I snapped at my husband: "I just need to get away." He told me we couldn't afford to just drop everything and go on a round the world holiday like I'd imagined, so we compromised. What followed was a refreshing weekend just one hour away from our house, in a little retro unit Olly gets cheap through the association at his work. We had the best time! Sure there were meltdowns, spills, sleepless nights and heaps of "why the heck are we doing this" but there were also plenty of laughs, walks, bike rides, treats and hot chocolates. Of course, there was also time for us to just be us: The Chens. Our little family of four. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat ♡
